Burning River Fest

In 1969, the Cuyahoga River infamously caught on fire. While most of the nation still makes jokes about this incident, Clevelanders have decided to embrace it and spread awareness of eco-consciousness by hosting the annual Burning River Fest.

The Burning River Fest, which takes place tomorrow and Saturday, highlights environmental issues affecting the Great Lakes region and the Cuyahoga River ecosystem. The two-day event will include more than 25 performances by local bands, food demonstrations, performance artists from the Cleveland Museum of Art's Parade the Circle, interactive displays from environmental groups and a special batch of Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s famous Christmas Ale.

Tickets cost $15 at the gate. Children aged 12 and under are admitted for free. This is a cash only event.

Proceeds from the fest benefit the Burning River Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that provides resources for the sustainable future of local waterways.
