Ring in the holiday season with the fifth annual Light Up Lakewood this Saturday.
The festivities kick off with a winter parade at 5 p.m. The parade route will stretch from Bunts Avenue to Arthur Avenue down Detroit Ave.
The parade will be followed by the crowning of the first Festival King and Queen, and a "Lighting Extravaganza" at Lakewood Hospital at 6 p.m. The design of the lights has been kept a secret and will be revealed to the community when the lights are switched on.
The remainder of the evening will include musical entertainment from choirs and carolers, street hockey, ice carvings, free trolley rides, food trucks and carnival fare, and a "Gingerbread House Tour," featuring gingerbread houses created by members of the community that will be displayed in various store windows.
The event is sponsored by LakewoodAlive, an economic development organization dedicated to revitalizing Lakewood's historic downtown district.
